CONFLICT | COMPLETION
The year 2025 is the last of the four out-breath years, the ninth and final year in the current nine-year cycle that began in 2017.
SNAPSHOT
This year we’re clearing the path for new projects, new associations, and new ways of doing things. We’re preparing for transformative shifts in 2026. Hence, there’s likely to be some conflict because some things have to end. The ideal is to avoid the superficial and instead focus on completing all outstanding tasks at hand. It’s best if we are as detached as possible in our dealings with others. Stay in the moment, only plan in the short run. Let go of anything that no longer resonates. If we can do this, we can avoid considerable internal turmoil.
Conflict and completion are the key themes for this 9-year of 2025. This is the end of the current 9-year cycle. It’s bound to be a tumultuous time – 9 is ruled by Mars, the ‘god of war’. It’s a testy time: expect endings because our world is getting ready to grow, to expand and to initiate. The conflict invariably arises because some players aren’t too happy with the changes. What does survive the shake-up will inform the new cycle beginning in 2026. Long overdue tasks are being wrapped up and toes are bound to be trodden on. With a new cycle around the corner, it is perfectly natural that we will all be challenged: we are being asked to let go of any outdated ideas, attitudes, ways of doing things, patterns of behaviour that no longer make sense, that no longer work. We’ll know what some of those things are because we got to see them unearthed in 2024. Expect some more. Likely quite dramatic: 9 is no stranger to drama! In the first half of 2025, our task is to clear the decks: everything is up for grabs, everything goes through the wringers. In the second half, we lay the groundwork for the new cycle.
To make the most of the year, we are being asked to use discernment to decide what to remain involved with and what not. Nothing should distract us from unblocking the drains, decluttering the garage or that ‘junk’ room. It’s time to create space. As well, all of us are being asked to be patient with those who may not understand the choices being made and the processes that are adopted. Expect major schisms.
While in this ‘frenzy’ of decluttering, it’s important not to get ahead of ourselves and be tempted to jump in and start a new project ahead of time, particularly if we feel as though we’ve been treading water a bit over the last three years. Don’t. The time is not right and those projects are unlikely to work out. Equally, we’d be ill-advised to take on everything all at once. If we do the declutter methodically and don’t stretch ourselves too thinly, after June we should be ready to create that pathway with relative ease.
If we do all this, we can capitalise on the momentum we’ve created over the past few years. We are readying ourselves to step through a new gateway. By mid-November 2025, we should begin to feel the first impulses of the new cycle, so we can start planning.
With regard to money, it’s best to wait until the new cycle in 2026; there is still some work to complete. Just prepare the groundwork first. It would be prudent not to fritter money/resources away foolishly; we will need it at the start of the new cycle to initiate new projects.
In sum, this is a year for the world to act on all the exposés and investigations of 2024*. Presumably we have learned things and gained some wisdom. If there are setbacks or delays in 2025, it’ll be because the wisdom gained either didn’t sink in or not enough of us heard it, saw it or felt it. Those institutions and organisations that did will weather the storms of 2025 and shine through. For entities that didn’t, they are still encouraged to unearth and prep for the winds of change ahead, ignoring any nagging doubts and fears, both internally and from outsiders. Or, they may not survive. That’s what the 9 is all about. It will wrap-up; if we’re not on that wave, we will be left at sea.
To finish on an optimistic note — and this is a bit of bold punt — but it is possible that combining the themes of conflict and completion, we could see some wars ending. Could be clean or could be messy, but it is a possibility.
Your personal year and the 9 year
How does this 9 year affect each of us personally? How will you fare amidst the potential conflict as everything draws to a close? That will depend on your personal year. You can work that out here. Your astrological sign is also a factor, but that’s adding another layer to the cake and far more complex for this blog. So very briefly and very generally:
If you’re in a 1-year, you’re in harmony with the 9 energy of 2025. You’ll tend to ride the conflict and ‘rush to complete’. The turbulence won’t matter so much; you’ll get things done. If you’re awake, you’ll see the opportunities to initiate while everything falls apart or gets wrapped up, so to speak.
If you’re in a 2-year, you’re in sharp contrast to the 9 energy of 2025, however, with effort you can make it work. Though you’d like to take your time to consider the internal implications, provided you can be nimble and not hide in your shell and navel-gaze too much you can work with the shift. Remember your true power this year comes from within. Therefore, focus on finding your inner strength.
If you’re in a 3-year, you’re in harmony with the 9 energy of 2025. You’ll ride with the conflict and rush to complete. The turbulence won’t matter so much; you’ll get things done. Be flexible as you push through on all fronts. Learn to stand back from the wrap-up by drawing from different ways of seeing and doing.
If you’re in a 4-year, you’re in harmony with the 9 energy of 2025. Remember to take time out to reflect, even for ten minutes at a time. As always, your approach to the year requires unconventional, leftfield responses and expecting the unexpected. Also remember to focus on the bigger picture. Feel free to experiment, play, dabble, go off on tangents.
If you’re in a 5-year, you’re mostly in harmony with the 9 energy of 2025. As you take action and make changes, you can ride the 9 effectively if you’re flexible and nimble. Don’t be afraid to let go of what’s not working and move ahead quickly; it will work for you. That said, there may be times when you’ll surprise yourself and others with your capacity to push through, or at least that will be your challenge.
If you’re in a 6-year, you’re in opposition/sharp contrast with the 9 energy of 2025. You’re not especially comfortable with the conflict and wrap up. It’s too fast-paced. Expect disquiet. Relax and spend time in nature, and with good friends — quietly.
If you’re in a 7-year, you’re in sharp contrast with the 9 energy of 2025. Just keep deep diving. You can’t easily take others with you, though. Relax by the water, meditate. You may not be ready to accept the pace of the wrap-up. And you may not be ready until your personal 8 year.
If you’re in a 8-year, you’re in sharp contrast with the 9 energy of 2025. You’re still digging up stuff and you’re not quite ready to down tools just yet. Expect some conflict. No matter what, be determined, thorough, steadfast, consistent. That’s all you can do. It’ll make more sense later on in your 9 year.
If you’re in a 9-year, the 9 energy of 2025 will intensify. You’re onboard for everything. You’re keen to finish the job, and the global 9 year supports you. Watch for conflict though. It could get messy. Even so, you will get to sign on the dotted line. Go for it.

(The 9 can be blissfully unaware, being devoid of guile. It’s against the very essence of 9 to plan complex strategies or play games to get what it wants from others. It just pushes through regardless!)

The year as 20 25 (twenty twenty-five) not two thousand and twenty five
Since 2020, we’ve been calling each year as 20 20, 20 21, 20 22, not two thousand and twenty, two thousand and twenty-one, two thousand and twenty-two and so on. That change added extra meaning to the mix. We now call this year 20 25, not two thousand and twenty-five. The 20 is The Awakening, the 25 is Discrimination | Analysis. This suggests spiritual wisdom is gained when we carefully observe people and things and that worldly success comes by learning through experience, even if painful. Its strength comes from overcoming disappointments and setbacks and possessing the rare quality of genuinely learning from past ‘mistakes’. We are learning to discern acutely. This year is therefore also about being keenly aware of all that is around us, using the tools of discrimination and piercing analysis to learn the truth of any given situation. It’s time to wake up — and to see it for yourself.
* Some 2000 CEOs resigned in 2024, numerous governments collapsed and/or leaders had become very unpopular. The ParlGov global research project found every single governing party facing election in a developed country in 2024 lost vote share — a first in nearly 120 years of records, the Financial Times reported. More than 60 countries plus the 27 member states of the European Union held elections in 2024. Combined, these countries are home to 4.2 billion people or half the world’s population. And the legal system in the US in particular was busy! Then there’s all the kerfuffle and scandal in the celebrity world (for example, P Diddy). It was an 8 year after all!
